NPFC History
NP Fish Camp was first developed as “Walt’s English River Fish Camp in 1955 by Walter Janke. Walter owned and operated the camp until October 1966, when Walt died in a boating accident. The Janke family sold it to Allen Schromel. Al ran the camp until 1981.
Steve Hanke developed under the present day name Naughty Pines Fish Camp, grew from 4 cabins in 1981 to 30 cabins, lodge, and supporting buildings. During the 1990’s through June 2003 Naughty Pines was a higher volume resort business. June 21, 2003 Naughty Pines Wegg Lake base camp was completely destroyed by fire. The fire in no way effected the outpost cabin.

OK - Time for the comeback
Reconstruction with refinancing began in the fall of 2003 and continues today. Steve’s redevelopment of Naughty Pines includes 15+ rental units and a 40’ x 60’ 2 story lodge with commercial American plan kitchen and dining.

14 miles west of Ear Falls, Northwest Ontario, Canada

Naughty Pines Fish Camp steadily grew from four cabins in
1981 to 30 cabins, lodge and support buildings until 2003.
During the good old days, there were over 1000 guests,
Enjoying EXCELLENT FISHING, GOOD TIMES and RELAXING
During the 1990’s thru 2002.
Remember some of the highlights of a trip to Naughty Pines Fish Camp:
Barbeque gatherings, lodge meals, northern lights boat trips,
Sing alongs, weekly Wednesday night party, bon-fires on the beach, shore lunches,
Story telling around the fire, horse shoes, volleyball matches - more
upbeat than your average wilderness lodge, EH!

REMEMBER WEDNESDAY NIGHT PARTIES ?
People primarily come for the world renowned WALLEYE, NORTHERN PIKE,
TROPHY MUSKIE and SMALLMOUTH BASS fishing. In the fall guests
opt for moose and bear big game hunts and also grouse and waterfowl bird hunts.
Additionally there is a Scenic, Majestic Magic to this place!

Built in the late 1950’s - this is what it Current Day after numerous Improvements,
looked liked when Hanke bought 1981. semi modern, comfortable & clean.
