Hunting

In addition to our fishing packages we welcome hunters of Moose, Black Bear, Timber Wolf, Grouse and Waterfowl to enjoy an up-north adventure.

Included in the Black Bear and Moose hunting package is the opportunity to do quality Canadian fishing plus there are timber wolf, grouse and waterfowl to hunt.  We want you to stay for your entire hunting week even if you get your trophy moose or bear early in your stay.  We also welcome your none Moose/Bear hunting companions to join you for fall fishing.  Hunting licenses and fees paid to Ontario are additional but your camp guest rental is included at no extra cost.  So please stay and enjoy!

Black Bear

Fall Black Bear baited hunting season is the 2nd, 3rd & 4th week of September and 1st week of October. Hunting packages are for 7 days and 6 nights.

Hunting is done from a tree stand, a cliff side or ground level with baited sets.  Our exclusive hunting units support an excellent population of trophy black bear.  Our black bear population is approximately 7% cinnamon colored black bears.  Hunting pressure is nonexistent as a high percentage of these critters have never seen a human.

Past bear hunters realized their best success by going to their sets early in the morning, before sunrise, and commonly take a midday break.  They return for an evening hunt at approximately 2:30-3:30 pm and stay until dark.  Therefore your daily choice may be to go fishing midday or take a snooze.

Prospective bear hunters often ask what are my odds of bagging a trophy bear? The answer is not a percentage.  Your odds are greatly increased with your follow-through of time spent on the baited set.  A dedicated bear hunter does the details including: scent free showering, smoke free set, silence emphasis on the set, dedicated refreshing of baits, urinating at a distance of the set.  And you have to be awake at all times in the stand or you'll miss out on the action.

Realizing full well that some would criticize a casual approach to bear hunting.  We don't!  If you want to emphasize on fishing and side-line a bear hunt, that is fine with us.  This is your trip you do what ever makes it enjoyable for you.

The cost of a Black Bear hunt is the fishing package rate plus a  $350 / Per Hunter fee for baited sets.

Moose & Black Bear

Moose & Bear combo hunting starts Monday after October 10th. Hunting package is 10 days.

Trophy moose abound!!  There exists numerous feeder streams and creeks throughout our seven lake English River chain which is ideal geography to call in trophy bulls. We boat to the hunting sites daily.  No spike camps, no sleeping in tents, no arguing with horses, no paddling canoes (normally).  We never shoot moose from the boat, in fact we walk either side of creeks in grassy areas, comfortably stationing ourselves for three to five hour hunting sessions.  Our hunting techniques use some silent observation hunting, but we are not bashful with moose calls and there is other ethical audible techniques.

Normally fall days during the moose hunt are, more often than not, Indian summer comfortable.  Ontario moose hunts provide opportunity to see abundant wildlife during the course of pursuing Mr. Moose.  Mornings and evenings are typically the most productive.  This is a relaxed hunt, sometimes with a leaning up to a tree in tall grass to enjoy the noon sun rays, eat a well prepared brown bag lunch - short snooze.

Moose hunts are scheduled for ten day durations, yet it would not be unusual that you score your trophy early on.  The NPFC combo hunt now can fill part of the remaining days.  Black bear hunting utilizes a different approach to bagging your second trophy of your NPFC package.  A black bear rug on display with that bull moose trophy head makes for many true northern adventure stories.  Let's be sure to make some time for fishing, balanced diet you know, you can't eat red meat all the time, eh!!

The cost of a Moose & Bear hunt is $5,000 / Per Hunter.  It is a guided hunt, with home cooked meals and waterway transportation to hunting area provided. Included are all our fishing trip amenities plus grouse and waterfowl hunting opportunities.  Hunting licenses and fees paid to Ontario are additional.

Waterfowl Season

NPFC  duck hunt / fishing fall packages are a great way to enjoy our Canadian outdoors on the water.  Major flyway we are not - abundant variety of ducks you will shoot.  The smaller feeder streams that flow into our chain of lakes provide isolated shooting opportunities with birds that are likely less spooked than you are use to.  Be sure to bring your hunting four legged partners, they will love the action and the freedom of the Canadian wilderness.  Species include but are not limited to, mallards, golden eyes, canvas back and woodies plus Canadian geese.

Grouse, Spruce and Ruffed Season

Good years are the norm with fall shoots being productive.  Bring your hunting dog, he’ll enjoy the workout and save you unnecessary work.  NPFC staff will map you out for the best consistent shooting areas.  Most of our grouse hunters combine this activity with fishing and/or waterfowl hunting.  All this without any additional camp fees.
